Edo govt begins recruitment of 1,400 professionals into civil service

The Edo State Government will Monday, December 14, 2020 commenced recruitment of over 1,400 professionals into the junior, graduate and experienced cadres of the state’s civil service.

Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., in a statement, said the recruitment exercise is part of the ongoing transformation of the state’s civil service and a key pillar in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s quest towards Making Edo Great Again.

According to him, “The recruitment is seeking to bring over 1,400 talented professionals into the service at the Junior, Graduate and Experience categories across several disciplines of the service.”

Okungbowa noted that the recruitment adverts will be placed in two regional newspapers and two national newspapers, aired on radio stations, widely circulated on social media platforms and posted at the Edo State Government website; Civil Service Commission website; State and Local Government Secretariats.

“The Edo State Civil 2020/2021 Recruitment Campaign will commenced Monday, 14th December 2020. This Recruitment exercise is part of the ongoing transformation exercise in the state and one of the pillars of Making Edo Great Again. The recruitment is of major priority to our Governor and in line with his values.”

“The exercise shall be free, fair and merit-driven. We are an equal opportunity employer and each applicant shall stand the same chance of gaining employment with the State civil service,” he assured.

Governor Obaseki had during his second term inauguration promised that one of the major assignments he was going to embark on was a total transformation of the state’s civil and public service.

The governor recently approved the recruitment of professionals into the state’s civil service in line with that vision of repositioning the civil service for optimal performance.

While training has continued for workers in the state’s civil service at the John Odigie-Oyegun Training Academy, Governor Obaseki has earmarked N6.1 billion to inject requisite skill into the state’s civil service to ensure efficiency, productivity and drive sustainable development.
